You are the pharmacist in charge of a small community pharmacy. Your pharmacy provides COVID-19 vaccinations and, since the COVID-19 vaccination was recently approved for pharmacist administration to children from 5 years of age, your pharmacy is commencing appointments for children from next week. The other day, Jeremy came in with his healthy 12-year-old son, Brice, and asked to speak to you. He expressed his deeply held concerns about giving the Covid-19 vaccination to Brice. He stressed to you that his son was not to get the vaccine under any circumstances. He also explained that Brice’s mother, Fiona, wants him to have the vaccine, however he is fundamentally opposed to it. Jeremy also mentioned that they have just started going through a messy divorce, though no legal proceedings are underway so far. Today you see Brice in the pharmacy with Fiona. She has booked him in to get his first Covid-19 vaccine dose and has filled out all the current required legal consent forms.
